Office Depot celebrates opening of Norman store

The Norman Transcript

Office Depot, 1650 24th Ave. NW, celebrated the opening of its Norman store Thursday.

During the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the Office Depot Foundation made a $500 contributions, and donated a number of new children's backpacks to three local non-profit organizations: Friends of the Norman Public Library, Women's Resource Center Inc. and Central Oklahoma Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. In addition, Christie Myers, director of business development, Oklahoma Department of Commerce, representing Gov. Brad Henry; Councilmember Dan Quinn, representing Mayor Cindy Rosenthal; and Robin Allen, president, Norman Chamber of Commerce, offered welcoming remarks.

Store Manager John Wheeler said the new Norman store features Office Depot's industry-leading M2 retail format. He said M2 offers customers the most enjoyable shopping experience in the industry -- in a format that is intuitive, logical and designed specifically for the way people make purchase decisions.
Products are grouped in highly visible, strategically located "pods," with core supplies at the outer perimeter of the store -- signed for optimal visibility and easy purchase -- and furniture and technology at the center -- to better support consultative sales.

The store employs approximately 20 full- and part-time associates. It houses more than 7,500 technology, furniture and supply products as well as design, print and ship services in 21,813 square feet of customer space.
Store hours are Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Saturday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.; and Sunday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The telephone number for the Norman store is 366-6001.

Office Depot operates more than 1,600 worldwide retail stores. The company has annual sales of approximately $15.5 billion, and employs about 49,000 associates.
