Norman Economic Development Coalition has announced the annual Sooner Centurion Economic Summit will take place Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the OU Forum Building.
The Economic Summit boasts a new revised meeting format and for the first time is open to the general public. This years Summit will feature nationally renowned speaker William H. Fruth with POLICOM Corporation, an independent economic research firm that specializes in analyzing local and state economies. After completing the study, POLICOM then offers suggestions on how to improve the economic quality of life for the local residents. Fruth has completed over 200 studies in areas such as Pinellas County, Fla., Corpus Christi, Texas, Amarillo, Texas, Flagstaff, Ariz. and Madison, Wis. His presentation will provide an analysis of the Norman economy over the past 25 years as well as compare our current economy to that of other successful communities.
In addition to the speaker, the Summit meeting will include a panel of local experts for a question and answer session over the Norman community. The panel will include representatives from the City of Norman, Norman Public Schools, Moore Norman Technology Center, the Norman Economic Development Coalition and the University of Oklahoma. Guests are encouraged to prepare questions in advance and submit them to the NEDC to ensure an efficient and organized presentation.Tickets for the Summit are available for purchase at $50 per ticket or in books of 10 for $400. Registration forms for the Summit are available by calling Hope Watson at (405) 573-1900. Seating is limited so interested parties should contact the NEDC immediately to ensure availability. The deadline for registration is Monday, Feb. 22nd, 2010.
