Campus Corner, the shopping district just across Boyd Street from the University of Oklahoma, has a lot of new businesses opening this year. Some of the businesses include a couple of deli-style eateries, a Starbucks coffee outlet, three trendy women’s clothing boutiques and an upscale men’s clothing shop.

Norman Receives 16th consecutive financial award

For the 16th year in a row, the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting had been awarded to the City of Norman by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada for its comprehensive annual financial report.

Norman Regional Health System has been recognized by the American Heart Association for promoting physical activity and health in the workplace in the Norman Regional recognized for promoting wellness in the Start! Advanced radar system getting first civilian use

Phased Array Radar is being evaluated in Norman for use in storm detection. If implemented nation-wide, the technology is expected to detect storms more quickly and to provide significant cost savings with each installation.

SWeNT Reaches $5 Million Financing Goal

SouthWest Nanotechnologies Inc. (SWeNT) announced they have reached their initial private placement financing goal of $5 million. In July 2007, SWeNT broke ground on a $3.9 million, 15,000-square-foot facility under construction on eight acres at the Norman Business Park. SWeNT is a former business in NEDC’s business accelerator.
