New Braum’s open on E. Lindsey

Braum’s Ice Cream and Dairy Stores opened its new store, 800 E. Lindsey St., Saturday, unveiling the company’s new prototype.The new store replaces the older Braum’s store.

OU’s Campus Corner gets a makeover

Norman’s Campus Corner is getting a makeover. With several new restaurants and businesses coming, such as O’Connell’s, Starbucks coffeehouse, and a Republic Bank branch, campus should be booming.

WorkKeys Coordinator Receives Certification

Beth Jones, Cleveland County WorkKeys Coordinator, recently went through Job Profiling Training at the ACT headquarters in Iowa City, Iowa and received her license as an authorized ACT WorkKeys Job Profiler.


DOC announces partnership with University of Oklahoma Outreach

The Oklahoma Department of Corrections recently approved a contract with the University of Oklahoma Outreach to relocate its training and development academy to Norman.The move is the result of a more than seven month selection process and is expected to take place Oct. 1. OU was among five other state academic institutions that submitted bids for the academy.

OCAST applied research program funds nine projects from chemical sensing to meteorology

Nine individual research projects chosen from a field of 43 have been approved for $1.5 million in OCAST funding from the Oklahoma Applied Research Support (OARS) program for the next three years. Norman is among the nine applied research award winners for Weather Technology.

Norman's city manager ready to tackle issues

Steve Lewis has begun his time as Norman's city manager. Mr. Lewis's expectations are to work on getting the streets fixed, the Robinson Street underpass built on time, make the transition to curbside recycling and keep the water coming in and the sewage going out.

OnlineMedsource Inc., a business in NEDC's business accelerator (eTec), has been nominated for the 2007 Grace & Franklin Bernsen Venture of the Year Award as well as the 2007 Most Promising New Business Award.

Data Expedition, Inc. (DEI), a business in NEDC's business accelerator (eTec), has announced SyncDat, the first automated directory synchronization utility designed specifically to overcome the challenges of Wide Area Networking.


SouthWest Nanotechnologies breaks ground in business park

SouthWest Nanotechnologies, a private company formed from an OU professor's research on single-walled nanotubes, broke ground on a 15,000-square-foot headquarters building and manufacturing plant in southeast Norman Thursday morning. SouthWest Nanotechnologies is relocating to the Norman Business Park southeast of SH9 and 24th Avenue SE.

A new direction for SWeNT and NEDC

The Norman Economic Development Coalition's efforts to create quality employment and investment in our community took a giant step forward this past week. The NEDC will build and lease a 15,000-square-foot building and some specialty equipment to SouthWest Nanotechnologies, a startup nanotube manufacturer founded by an OU engineering professor.
