The University of Oklahomas Price College of Business will
begin offering a masters degree in business administration in
fall 2007 that will feature a 16-month course of study, allowing
graduates to enter the workforce six months sooner than most
programs.
The program has been designed to be more attractive to
both students seeking an MBA and to businesses seeking MBA
graduates, Robert C. Dauffenbach, associate dean of Price
College, said.
It offers a modular format with two-hour courses taught in eight-week sessions, following a widely adopted approach used by the top business schools.
The fully accredited program ranks in the top 30 of public institutions in U.S. News & World Report. Forbes has ranked the program in the top 50 MBAs for return on investment.
Emphasis will be on what a manager needs to know. A concentration in an area of corporate finance, risk management, entrepreneurship, supply-chain management or MIS will be offered.
Hours for graduation will be reduced with intensive study in small classes that encourage faculty and student interaction. There will be increased emphasis on internships. Every student will be assigned a mentor and have access to the Student Support Center, offering career development assistance.
An evening program for professionals, with courses offered in Oklahoma City, will follow an identical format, permitting these students a richer set of course offerings and a reduced time to degree completion.
Those interested in the fall 2007 program must apply before Saturday. Notification of acceptance will be within three weeks of application completion. Scholarships and graduate assistantships are available to full-time students.
