After quadrupling in size, the May 18 “Start Your Career Day” proved to be a success for host, Cleveland County Workforce Investment Board, a spokesperson for the agency said.

“This spring’s Career Day went above and beyond our expectations,” Candice Hyde, director of Workforce Development, said.

“Start Your Career Day” was an idea started by Hyde in fall 2006. CCWIB held the first Career Day in November with 13 employers present and about 50 attendees. Determined to make the event an ongoing success, Hyde along with the help of other CCWIB staff members put together spring’s “Start Your Career Day.”

The event proved to be a success with more than 25 employers present and over 200 attendees.

Employers including OGE, Norman Regional Health System, Sysco, Hiland Dairy, Convergy’s, Manpower, Sitel, Crossroads Youth & Family Services, NCED Marriott Conference Center, Cleveland County Workforce, Sooner Human Resource Management, Cingular Wireless, Braum’s, OU Employment, Arbor House, Office Personnel Management, State of Oklahoma, Express Personnel, Central Oklahoma Juvenile Center, Albon and Dell were present.

Training providers, Moore Norman Technology Center, Platt College and ATI Training Center also will on sight.
