Sarkeys Foundation of Norman has announced grants in the amount
of $3,964,930. Several Norman agencies are among the Oklahoma
nonprofits named as recipients.
We are pleased with the number and quality of the
organizations we were able to fund this grant cycle and look
forward to a thriving relationship with each, Board President
Richard Bell said.
Norman recipients were:
University of Oklahoma Foundation, $1,000,000 to establish the
Sarkeys Scholarship endowment in the Sooner Heritage Scholarship
Program and $1,000,000 toward the construction of an indoor tennis
facility.
Center for Children and Families Inc., $140,338 for the training
program Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics developed
by Dr. Bruce Perry.
Mary Abbott Childrens House, $150,000 to assist with the
purchase and renovation of a building adjacent to their current
facility.
Oklahoma Arts Institute, $150,000 to assist with establishing an
endowed theatre faculty chair.
Also receiving awards were:
Oklahoma City Art Museum, $250,000 to increase the Sarkeys
Education endowment.
Oklahoma City National Memorial Foundation, Oklahoma City,
$50,000 to fund scholarships for public school students in Oklahoma
to attend the traveling exhibit Lincoln: The Constitution and
the Civil War.
Cameron University Foundation, Lawton, $300,000 to assist with
the capital campaign for a new Student Activities Complex.
Community Literacy Centers, Oklahoma City, $20,280 to assist
with implementation of a program aimed at stopping
multigenerational illiteracy.
Putnam City Public Schools Foundation, Oklahoma City, $15,000 to
purchase books for distribution to economically disadvantaged
students as part of the Authors Program.
City Care, Oklahoma City, $16,000 for the salary for a part-time
site director for one year for the Whiz Kids Program.
Variety Health Center, Oklahoma City, $301,600 for funding for a
pediatrician, costs of various lab tests, and to increase
fundraising and development capacity.
Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless Inc., $25,000 to help fund the
Nurses Triage Clinic.
Youth and Family Services of North Central Oklahoma, Enid, $125,000 toward the construction of a new building.
YMCA of Ponca City, $100,000 for construction of a
natatorium.
Mental Health Association in Tulsa, $150,000 to assist in
funding SafeTeam, a suicide/violence prevention program aimed at
adolescents.
Tulsa Boys Home, $75,000 to underwrite their aftercare
program.
Magic Empire Council of Girl Scouts, Tulsa, $46,712.70 to fund
Project MEND.
The Sarkeys Foundation, established by S.J. Sarkeys, is one of the
