Norman has been listed as one of America's 100 top places to live.

Throughout the year, HomeRoute and RelocateAmerica have been accepting nominations for cities and towns throughout the country to be considered as a "great place to live." The towns were ranked on key data regarding education, employment, economy, crime, parks, recreation and housing.

Norman, Oklahoma is located in Cleveland County, Norman is situated 25 miles and 25-30 minutes south of Oklahoma City along I-35. The drive to Will Rogers International Airport takes about 25 minutes. It is located to the west half-way between Oklahoma City and Norman. The drive to Dallas takes 3 hours straight south on I-35; to Kansas City, straight north, about 6 hours. To the west the next big city is Amarillo, TX (4 hrs.) and Albuquerque, NM (8 hrs). Cities located to the east include St. Louis, MO (9 hrs) and Little Rock, AR (5 hrs).

Norman is the gateway to the Southwest. It is a university town (University of Oklahoma and home of the Sooners) with about 20,000 students and about 100,000 permanent residents. It is a very service-oriented community, where people are continuously involved in one or more volunteer activities.

Norman has adopted a very forward-looking development plan (Norman 2020) to guide its growth, through preservation of existing rural areas, development of green belts, wise existing land uses, attracting non-polluting business and developing beautiful housing additions.

A friendly town to raise your family-Norman is a community of caring families involved at all levels with schools, civic organizations and fund raising groups. We are the home of the University of Oklahoma, where the intellectual/educational achievements under President David Boren, former U.S. Senator, have been nothing short of remarkable. The University of Oklahoma is the recipient of the Weitzenhoffer collection of Impressionist paintings-Renoir, Degas, Van Gogh, Lautrec- conservatively valued in excess of $50 million.
