C&C Trailers, Inc. of Norman, received a one-year federal inspection exemption from the U.S. Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) on Tuesday.

The exemption is for maintaining an accident-free workplace. C&C also received the "Safety Health Achievement Recognition Program" (SHARP) award, which incorporates the OSHA safety standards, from the Oklahoma Department of Labor. The company has received the SHARP award since December 2002.

State Labor Commissioner Brenda Reneau said C&C Trailers is one of only 47 state's 88,000 businesses to receive SHARP status in fiscal year 2005.

SHARP was designed to encourage and recognize excellence in occupational safety and health. Certification in SHARP provides an exemption from OSHA's general-scheduled inspections for up to two years.

C&C Trailers, Inc. manufactures custom aluminum horse, stock and cargo trailers. The company says it has a 98 percent approval rating from customers.
