Norman Arts Council to hold Grant-Writing Workshop
Norman, OKThe Norman Arts Council will hold a
grant-writing workshop on October 2 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the
regularly scheduled Roundtable meeting at the Norman Chamber of
Commerce, located at 115 E. Gray. The workshop is entitled
How to Submit a Grant to the NAC. Since its inception,
the NAC has granted almost $2 million to a wide range of arts and
humanities projects in Norman.

University of Oklahoma Meteorology Professor Finds Human Factors Influence Rising
University of Oklahoma School of Meteorology professor David
Karoly released a climate study this week demonstrating that the
warming temperatures in central England over the past 40 years can
be attributed to human factors and not nature the first time
a significant human influence on climate change has been identified
at such a small regional scale.

Council looks at economic development ordinance

going down as part of the city's defeated temporary, five-year

City shows $2.3 million budget surplus
The city of Norman ended the year with an about $2.3 million
surplus, which apparently took several city leaders by
surprise.

Downtown parking lot coming soon
Concrete curbed corners round the new downtown parking lot on
Gray Avenue.
City staff said they expect asphalt to be laid early next week. And
shoppers and merchants could be parking in the lot as early as
November.

Oklahoma Arts Institute moving to Norman
Under the all-concealing shadows of a dark Guthrie night in
1910, then-Gov. C.N. Haskell ordered the removal of the state seal
and its relocation to Oklahoma City. This covert act solidified
Oklahoma City's bid as the new state capital and created a folklore
tradition still discussed and embellished by Okies.

OU Breaking Records in Research Growth
BARTLESVILLE The University of Oklahoma has set a new
record high for external funding for research and sponsored
programs, closing out fiscal year 2006 at almost nearly $239
million, more than $17 million above last year.
