The Journal Record

NORMAN (JR)- Riverwind Casino in Norman has scheduled a job fair from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Moore Norman Technology Center at SW 134th Street and S. Pennsylvania Avenue.

The new casino scheduled to open this summer expects to have 1,800 employees. Applicants can also report to the Goldsby Gaming Center, 1038 W. Sycamore Rd. in Norman. Applications are available at www.riverwind.com.

About 800 job seekers attended the casino's first job fair, said Susanne Woolley, chief administrative officer for Chickasaw Enterprises, which will operate the casino.

"We had more than 800 visitors at our first job fair and have added more than 200 people to our Riverwind team," Woolley said. "But we still have about 900 positions that we want to fill before our mid-July opening."

Woolley says the second job fair is focusing on more specific jobs in the areas of food and beverage, valet parking, housekeeping, hospitality clerks and game technicians. The casino will offer training for all positions.

Riverwind Casino will include a 1,500-seat theater for concerts, comedians and other entertainment and a smaller 77-seat lounge. The 219,000-square-foot facility will have two restaurants, a food court, 2,200 electronic gaming machines, more than 70 blackjack and poker tables, an off-track betting lounge and an event center.
