City Certified Site-Ready
By Randall Turk

Norman is among 10 Oklahoma cities recently certified as "site-ready" by the Oklahoma Department of Commerce.

The designation is for cities with sites ready for companies to occupy. Site-ready cities provide key data to employers seeking to expand or relocate to Oklahoma. Currently, only three other states offer such programs.

Norman was certified for the University of Oklahoma Research Park, built to accommodate weather-related companies and the Norman Business Park developed by the Norman Economic Development Coalition (NEDC). Both locations are in the state's first technology corridor stretching along Highway 9.

The NEDC also has produced its "Economic Abstract," a 13-page color brochure containing such information as Norman demographic data, the state's tax and incentive programs for business and training and education programs available in Norman. The brochure is used to promote Norman to prospective employers.

Other state certified site-ready cities are Alva, Ardmore, Bartlesville, Claremore, Eufaula, Fairview, Hobart, Ponca City and Wagoner.
