Progress of the National Weather Center on OU’s south campus

A camera has been installed to capture the daily progress of the National Weather Center on south campus. The University of Oklahoma (OU) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) are constructing the National Weather Center to provide a consolidated, state-of-the-art facility for research, operations, education, and training.

Natural History Museum Gets Grant

A $100,000 grant from the federal Save America's Treasures program will be used for conservation work on three sets of 19th-century Native American ledger-book drawings in the collections of the Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History at the University of Oklahoma.? Norman's Mayor Visits New Japanese Sister City

A celebration for the 50th anniversary of Seika, Japan's moving up from a village to a town was the occasion for Mayor Harold Haralson's first visit to Norman's new sister city. May Occupancy Expected For Weather Center

From a distance the National Weather Center building appears serene, the light and shadows skipping across recessed exterior walls. “We’re in the final phase, with final details being lined up,” Forsythe said. With the exception of groundwater encountered during excavation, the project is said to have encountered no problems of any significance. “We’ve shifted our schedule a bit, with completion expected around the first part of April instead of March,” Forsythe said. University Well Ahead In Race For New Navigation Aid

A company based on University of Oklahoma technology continues to test a navigation aid that could someday revolutionize how aircraft take off and land in bad weather. The OU company, Leading Edge Navigation Solutions LLC, is working to have its prototype tested and certified well before much larger and wealthier companies can develop and market theirs, said John Fagan, OU professor of electrical and computer engineering. ORBIMAGE Completes Acquisition of Space Imaging; Changes Brand Name To GeoEye

ORBIMAGE Holdings Inc. (OTCBB: ORBM) has finalized the acquisition of substantially all of Denver-based Space Imaging’s assets. The combined company will now do business under the brand name GeoEye. GeoEye is the world’s largest commercial satellite imagery company with a pro forma combined revenue for 2005 of approximately $160 million.

Plans Announced For Entertainment Center

Two Norman partners have announced plans to build and equip a $2 million family entertainment center to appeal to Norman and metro area residents. The 13,000-square-foot entertainment center will have an arcade with video and redemption games, a large party room area and space for food service. More than half the center will be taken up by a two-level laser tag arena.
